Europe’s leading multi-material food packaging manufacturer, Linpac Packaging, has been recognised for its commitment to staff development and training once again after winning the Wakefield District Business ‘People Make Performance’ Award for a second time.
The Wakefield District Business Awards showcase the cream of the city’s industry and commerce. Linpac Packaging, which has its headquarters in Knottingley and a major manufacturing base in nearby Featherstone, first picked up the award in 2009.
Judges praised the company’s continued commitment to the professional development of its workforce during challenging business conditions and its acknowledgement that skilled people are essential for the company to remain competitive, efficient and productive, and at the forefront of its sector.
Linpac Packaging was also recognised for its forward planning to avoid a skills shortage by ensuring that there is a succession of employees being trained with the knowledge and skills to allow them to rise through the ranks to replace natural staff turnover.
Barbara Laing, divisional communications manager at Linpac Packaging, said: “We are extremely proud to be receiving this award for the second time. It shows that our staff training and development strategy is not a ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ approach but something we recognise as having a key part to play in making our business a success both now and in the future.
"Access to learning is available to employees at all levels and in all departments, from the factory floor to the boardroom, and we support employees doing a wide range of qualifications, from NVQs to Masters to job specific, bespoke training courses."
Barbara added: "With our headquarters and one of our largest manufacturing sites in Wakefield, it is also great to be recognised by the local community in this way."
The awards evening was hosted by the BBC’s Clare Frisby and held at the Cedar Court Hotel in Wakefield. Roman Manthey, Group Operations Director for Coca-Cola Enterprises was guest speaker.
Linpac Packaging is a leading supplier of food packaging products to the UK and European markets. The company is a multi-material packaging supplier to the protein, bakery, fresh produce and foodservice sectors, working with customers to offer consumer focused packaging solutions.
